Barbie, everyone’s favorite fashion and beauty icon, celebrated her 50th birthday this week! Isabel helped us kick off the festivities with her article about Barbie’s troubled yet exultant past.

She writes: “Over the years, Barbie has endured many roles and changes. She started out as a trendsetter, wearing all the latest fashions. She has worn outfits by designers such as Bob Mackie and Calvin Klein, mimicked stylish women such as Jackie Kennedy, and followed the trends of each decade, from a bob cut to long hair that little girls could brush and style (1992’s Totally Hair Barbie had hair down to her feet).”

Given her interest in fashion, what would Barbie have thought of fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent?  Arielle wrote about a retrospective of the designer’s work at the de Young Museum on San Francisco.  The show features over 120 pieces on loan from the Foundation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent in Paris.

If you want to see someone wear a really fashionable coat, you should check out the greyhounds at the Rocky Mountain Greyhound Adoption in Colorado.  Matthew recently had a chance to visit this facility, and he took some really amazing photos.  He writes: “‘After their bellies are full, they always sing,’ said Torri Morris, the adoption coordinator for the Rocky Mountain Greyhound Adoption (RMGA) just outside of the compound’s largest kennel. The short yelps echo the longer howls, and the chorus harmonizes until Morris starts to sing along.”

We hope that everyone enjoys Daylight Savings Time!
