In about a month, many students are completing their undergraduate and graduate degrees. Are you ready to put on your job interview face? Trust us, the job interview face is much different from the dive bar face, the hangover face, and the my-favorite-team-just-lost-an-important-game face. Ana has some great tips for acing an interview, and she even has advice for unconventional interviews, like those conducted by phone or through instant messenger (in this case, your job interview face might be a classy emoticon).
Ever wonder what the HR department wants from you? The Movement Theatre Company in New York City recently ran a production called Blacken the Bubble. TStS writer Melissa had a chance to see the show, and she shared her impressions earlier this week.
Melissa writes: “It tells the story of a corporate office – what they do there is not certain or particularly pertinent – who decide to ‘diversify’ by hiring a black executive. When Trevor Washington, played by LC Witter, opts not to fill in his race on the government forms, the rest of the employees sometimes gently, but mostly not-so-gently, try to persuade him to change his mind.”
We’ve been thinking about adopting a pet for the TStS offices. However, we reconsidered after we read Ken’s piece about responsible pet ownership. Sure, a cute dachshund would keep us company, but do we really have time to give it the attention it deserves? Paris Hilton makes owning a pet look so easy, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. If you do decide to get a pet, can you give us a call? We’d love to visit you.
