This week at Too Shy to Stop, we celebrated Arbor Day and Earth Day. We hope you don’t suffer too terribly from seasonal allergies because the pollen is popping in some parts of the country.
Lauren wrote an excellent article about public art in cities all over the country. Did you know that public art has included cow parades, crabs, and geckos? “The culture of public art is so broad and full of variety that it seems to be omnipresent, causing you to think about issues you wouldn’t normally consider and making you believe that social change is possible with just the stroke of a brush or a nail and a hammer. So the next time you pass by a giant metal ring or a poster mounted to concrete, think about it for a minute; it may just change your life.”
Do you have a favorite public art exhibit?
After a week off, Mermaid is back and better than ever. We are proud of her for reorganizing her priorities and realizing her inner strength. On Wednesday, she wrote: “NO, I didn’t need the burden of taking a pill and depending on it to regulate weight. In fact, I think the action of taking such a pill is futile in itself because it puts an added pressure around ‘body’ itself and is just another product that sells us a book of goods will supposedly make us more confident, when the body is a thing that needs to be lived in, forgiven, and allowed to experience what it craves. Confidence is always going to start within and not because of a pill.”
Did you know that we’re always seeking submissions for I Scream Sunday? If you have a poem or a short story that you would like us to consider for publication, feel free to send an e-mail to iscreamsunday@tooshytostop.com.
